Hello, My friends Ipod stopped playing songs so he sent it away to be fixed...it got mailed back in two parts. Everything was good except for the HDD it had a small dent in it. I reconnected all the ribbons up and it turned on and showed the Apple logo for about 20 seconds before showing the red cross icon and saying go to the apple support site and then turning off. I was just wondering if by any chance I could fix this and if not are there any mods or hacks that I could do. By fixing it, what I had in mind was taking that back cover off so the dent isn't touching the disk inside while it spins, I don't know if that would work, the damage is probably already done. So if you guys have any ideas I would be happy to hear them. Thank you Max K.
well you could get a new hard drive very cheap online and bring the ipod back to life, just google ipod parts and you'll be amaze i just replaced the lcd screen on my sons 5 gen ipod video. goof luck
Another friend has just breathed life into the project. His Ipod was fried from a power surge so he has offered me his so I can rebuild this one, but his is a Ipod Video which is more chunkier than mine. So would a Ipod Video HDD fit in a Classic ? If not than I was thinking of just putting the front panel on the back panel of the Ipod video. Would that work ? Thank you Max Kreeger
