    i have a white 30GB white 5g ipod

last week i dropped it and the screen got scratched so when i go to sync my ipod the ipod would start syncing and after about two minutes the thing would freeze and itunes would keep on trying to input the song to the ipod.

After some time itunes would say "The iPod cannot be synced the required file cannot be found."

also when some songs actually do get transfered some songs wont play. I put it next to my ear and all i hear is the hard drive searching and always on. I tried restoring my ipod countless times and now it wont even charge when i conncet it to my wall charger.

does anybody know how to fix this?

    THNX

First thing to do, to make sure your HD is not corrupted, hit restore on itunes this will restore the ipod to its orinal settings and copy the songs back to it, if it says song can't be found then the problem is with itunes you when you get the message hit the botton that says searh for the songs manually and see if you can find them. Good Luck

sounds like a hardware issue, could be that the ipod hd is making noise because it's broken.

If you have tried reinstalling the ipod firmware using the rollback method (edit firmware version number to enable fresh firmware update).

I would make sure you have a fresh itunes install too not a updated version.

All of this is wishful thinking I'm afraid as I had a similar issue when I dropped a 300GB removable hd, it must misalign something inside.
