My son, wonderful child that he is, left his iPod mini out in the rain by accident. It now appears dead - won't turn on no matter what I do. I'm thinking that the battery may have shorted out and have bought a new battery on ebay which I await. Have any of you had this experience and do you know if replacing the battery will revitalize the prone pod? Thanks.
Electronics and being wet can mean more then a bad battery. Circuitry is generally ruined by water, but if still under warranty could be brought back and said you were running with it and think it got wet from sweat or something along those lines.
Thanks Darkjello for the response. It was left outside on the lawn during a rainfall, got wet, screen fogged up, etc. Left it alone to dry out for 4 - 5 days and then tried to turn on. Nothing. I'm hoping it's just the battery but it could have fried everything. I just don't know what the weak points are in the iPod Mini that would be the first things to go or a test sequence to begin the elimination process. Sadly it's no longer under warranty and even if it were, apple does not cover getting wet as a warranty item.
I've never tried this but maybe if you open up you're ipod and carefully dry the inside of it you have a chance on fixing it.
