I've got a borken iPod mini. It shows the folder and ! in the triangle, I've done a reset, which doesn't help the matter, and am attempting to put it into disk mode. I'm resetting it, and when the Apple logo appears holding down Select and Play. That is how to set it to disk mode correct? It's not responding to that at all and is apparently getting frozen on the Apple logo. Any suggestions?

Use the iPod Updater Restoration and go to apple.com/support

I would but my computer isn't recognizing it, unfortunately. It's off of warranty so I can't have apple fix it for me.

Try formatting it in 'My Computer', then restore..

I should really be more specific I'm sorry. My computer doesn't recognize the iPod is there at all. So it's not showing up in My Computer as a removable storage device as it normally would. I can't run restore because the computer doesn't know the iPod is attached so it can't format memory that it doesn't know exists. Which is why I'm trying to put the iPod into Disk Mode, but that apparently isn't working. Sorry if I'm sounding a tad rude.

What do you mean by 'isn't working?' You can't put it into disk mode or disk mode is not allowing you to mount it?

When I try to put it into disk mode, by holding 'Select and Play' after resetting and the Apple logo is on the screen, the iPod freezes on the Apple logo.
