so i reinstall xp and reinstall itunes, now suddenly it thinks i have two of every file, i know all i need to do is completely start over the libray (it took the old libray file from the HDD i backed up onto, why i think it thinks there's two of each) so is there a way of doing this without effecting my purchases? cheers
in itunes 8 click on file then scrol down halfway down and select show duplicates, all you gotta do select the onces that have no play info you should see your regular song and the same song listed bellow with no play info on it, just got down the list and hold the control key and select each song once you select them all right click and delete, Don't worry clicking delete will not delete the song from your computer, it will only delete it from the itunes libary, once your done, just select show all again and your done, if you need help, just let me know.
when you have over 1000 duplicates that ould b tedious, i ended up just deleting the libray folder and importing all the files again and it seemed to do the job also i've decided itunes 8 sucks, i mean whats up with the genious bar? its just needless
