I got my ipod nano a couple days ago. When first setting it up I successfully imported all my songs from my pc and went snowboarding all weekend and loved it! Now that I'm back home I'm trying to add some videos and pictures to the ipod and I receive the message "The ipod cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to. I the song part figured out but other than that I'm stooped. Any help would be appreciated.

Are your sure that it is a Nano?
Are you sure that it's 30gb?
Are you sure it has video?

The nano is the small ipod with a max 4gb. The video one is a regular size ipod that has 30gb.

If you have the nano ipod, you can't put videos on it. I dont put pictures on my ipod so I couldnt help you in taht area.
