i recently recieved an ipod nano as a gift from a company (cuz i've bought stuff from that company) and i ran into this problem. i can't transfer my mp3's onto the nano because apparently there is some protection device that doesn't allow the transfer of mp3's...i have to buy the tracks from itunes if i want to put songs on. so, my question is: is there a crack or program or anything that i can download to get the nano to take in my mp3's currently on my computer......without having to buy anything from itunes

Yes, there is a program... And it is free, it is called Jodix Free WMA to MP3 Converter, thats what I use. I dont think you should be having problems converting with this converter, because I use it all the time. So give it a try, and post back if you have any problems, although iTunes is supposted to convert mp3 files by itself. Hope it works!

Oh ya, before I forget, you can use limewire to download songs for your iPod, and the format that most of them come in is compatable with iTunes.

    [bold]mp3's are compatibile with iPods!!!!!![/bold]

There are many ways to manage your library, you can't however just drag and drop files onto the iPod. You need to either add them to iTunes and use that or try one of the methods here:

i don't think i was too clear in my original post...like my songs are all uploaded onto itunes and they are in compatible format, but when i tell itunes to transfer the tracks, it goes to a screen that tells the song and album information, and price to buy the song (in other words, itunes is not letting me transfer...they're trying to make me purchase songs from them instead of using my own).
like...most ppl i kno w/ the nano, when they transfer, the tracks just transfer. mine, itunes tries getting me to buy the tracks and won't let me transfer...don't know if that's any clearer...

    thx for responses

Oh, that arrow next to the songs takes you to the iTunes Music Store. Is that what you're doing? If the songs are in iTunes and you havn't changed any settings then they should upload by themselves, if not right click on your iPod [in iTunes] and tell it to update.
