    Hi.

I have a first generation Nano. My friend was going to sell it to me and when he found it it wasn't working. He said he took great care of it and that it never got wet. iPod looks fine.

Problem is, I connect the thing via USB and it does nothing. I reset the device and still nothing. Neither explorer nor iTunes recognizes the device.

He said the last time he used it was in August and it worked fine.

Was wondering if there was something I could try before getting raped by some store. Could the battery be dead? Should I open the iPod?

    Thx for the advice

Connect ipod to the computer wait a few minutes, it sounds the battery is totally drain, after the battery gets a boost. it will show back on itunes, is best if you let it charge all the way, best charge is in 3 to 4 hours, as per apple recommendation. If for some reason the ipod don't charge, means is time to replace the battery, but don't panic, ipod battery kits are sold everywhere just about, even best buy take a look a a few links. is easy to change. Good Luck
