is there anyway for me to transfer a microsoft word sheet into an ipod notes file? like so i can read my story on my ipod. i tried putting a microsoft word file in but it came up in codes. the instructions were not very clear with the ipod "To view text files here, enableiPod for disk use, then drag text files to the Notes folder on iPod." i went to the site that was suggested and it said "The Notes folder on your iPod can hold very large text files, but iPod can only display up to 1000 files, the first 4 kilobytes (KB) of text, or about 4096 characters will be shown for each note. When you view a long note on your iPod, it will be truncated (automatically shortened). To see all of the contents of a long note, just break it up into files that are smaller than 4 KB, then copy them to the Notes folder on your iPod. The Notes feature is available on iPod models with a dock connector including: " it wasnt very helpful. i still dont get it. i need someone to explain this, does it matter what kind of file it is?
To save a note in ur ipod you cannot use a word doc. you have to use note pad.Thats how you will be able to see it on your ipod.If not you can save in a word doc, you'll be able to see it if your ipod is in disk mode when connected to ur ipod.
oh , ok. well what im trying to do is save a story from a website page and i just need to be able to read it on my ipod. i couldn't figrue out what to do to save it to my ipod. i understood what you said, kinda, but still how do i save a page from online? (the page has no pics or colors, just words)
Try highlighting the words and then copy and paste to notepad.save it in notepad then put in notes folder on your ipod.I never really paid any attention to the limit of characters but if it doesn't come up right just split the file in two seperate notepad documents.
this might not matter but , i noticed that you can save something as "word pad" or "note pad" whats the difference and does it matter?
What i do know is note pad is as plain as it gets in terms of formating(changing fonts, fonts size cannot be done) however if Apple say you can save in wordpad well you can do so.The only difference is you can edit the size and style of writing in word pad unlike using notepad.
