I just got an iPod about a month ago, because of my birthday, my redneck military father bought it for me, but although my mother told him to buy it at best buy, he bought it at walmart, but just ot my luck, the damn thing broke, it was the LCD screen, and it looked like somone tried to open it with a screwdriver, I knew it was my brother who did it, and I dont know how to fix it, i think there is more wrong with it that the screen, if my brother was the one who screwed it up, there is more wrong with it thatn that, anyway, I need a way to replace it, i dont care if it is through the warrenty, i need help...ANYONE!!!

I don't think that the warranty covers abuse. I know that you didn't abuse it, but your brother did, but it still doesn't cover that. I'm pretty sure it only covers techinical and manufacturing issues. May be worth it to take it back to Wal-Mart, though to see if they will replace it. If not, I would go to your local apple store to see what it will se you back.

P.S. Why are you calling your pops a redneck? He bought you an iPod! LOL

Yes, you will probably need a proof of purchase. If WalMart do not hand you a replacement (which is likely), I feel your probably going to have to send it to Apple to fix. However, this will cost you, as cosmetic damage isn't covered under Apple's warranty.

i beleive that if it looks like it hasnt been opened at the back - according to the office of fair trading:

but the OFT source i am using is from the UK - however this may/maybe not be different in the US

    Maybe, according to fair-trading.

However, they don't repair broken LCD's under standard warranty.

People should really consider extended warranty. I paid an extra £100 and I am covered for five years, and that [bold]includes[/bold] accidental damage..

I suppose so, although I cannot guarantee this. You will have to check the terms of the warranty. I got mine with Dixons (UK), for £99.99, and so far, I have had one replacement. As soon as I showed them the warranty reciept, they replaced my iPod -- no questions asked..

    Well worth it.
