Every time I try to connect my ipod video 30gb to my windows vista computer, the ipod freezes, also programs that I used to transfer songs over like itunes or winamp freeze or do not start up until i unplug my ipod. i used a different usb wire and different usb ports but it still would not connect. this happened before so i reformatted my computer and it was working for awhile but now it just doesnt connect. is there a way to fix this?

first make sure you have all the updates on your windows vista, and make sure you have the newes version of itunes 7.6, hold the center and menu button on the ipod until you see the apple logo on the screen imediately release the menu and hold the play and center button until you see a check then the ipod screen, now connect to the pc with itunes already running select restore to restore your ipod also make sure your ipod has the lates firmware 1.2.3 is the lates. try that and see if it works, Good Luck.

well try then setting the ipod to recovery mode by holding the menu and center button until the ipod powers off, then imediately release the menu, and hold and center button until you see a check on the ipod screen, then open itunes just ituens dont have winamp running and connect the ipod restore it. and see if that takes care the problem
