so i have bought a brand new ipod video 30gb and updated the firmware to 1.1.2. The problem is that whenever i leave my ipod over night switched off (by pressing the play button for 3 secs and sliding the hold button), in the morning i am not able to turn my ipod on, and i have to reset it by pressing the middle button and menu togather. Is this the normal process of switching an ipod on after it has been on standby for a long time?

This has never happened to me. I would try to restore with the apple updater. Just make sure that you have a backup of all the songs/videos on your computer because it will be deleted from the iPod.

Hmm wierd, when i leave my ipod off for over 15 hours i just realised that i have to turn it on by holding just the menu button for 2 secs and the apple icon appears and then displays my music library as normal. Maybe this is the normal process in the new ipods videos... because the battery level looks fine and deosnt look drained.

Any button turns it on for me. If it doesn't bug you than you don't have to restore, but if it does bug you, I would recommend restoring with the updater.
