This is copied & pasted from my guide stickied at the top of this forum. It's pretty easy to follow.. [/quote] [bold]Videora[/bold] ~ DVD to iPod (requires DVD Decrypter) For Legal reasons, I cannot link to the download of DVD Decrpter. It is still available on the web, but obviously, you'll have to find it yourself. The download of videora ipod converter can be found here - http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ ------------------------------------- 1) Place the DVD you want to rip your video from into your DVD drive. 2) Launch DVD Decrypter. 3) Go to the Mode menu and select `IFO` I mode. This will give you access to two new tabs Input & Stream Processing: 4) Then, go `Tools` then `Settings` go to the IFO tab, then under Options, change File Splitting to [bold]None[/bold] and press `OK`. 5) Now go back to the main menu and select the `Stream Processing` tab. Check the box net to it so it is enabled, and only select the first video listed, as well as the audio. The encoded video's don't support any sort of subtitles, so uncheck that box if it's ticked. 6) Choose a location where you would like the DVDRip to go. Click on the Browse button (shown on screenshot below), locate the folder & click OK. 7) Now go `File` and `Decrypt` to begin. (It can take up to 15 minutes or even longer to rip the movie to your computer- depending on how good your computer is and how large the DVD is). Follow the next section to find out how to convert the decrypted DVD to iPod. [bold]Any Video (Or Your decrypted DVD) to iPod using Videora.[/bold] 1) Download Videora Here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ 2) Once you have downloaded, installed and run the program, follow these few steps to enable sound conversion to iPod-compatible video. a) Click `Convert` then `Transcode New Video`. Then locate the file that you ripped using the Decrypter and click `Open` (or locate the video file on your computer you already have) b) Once the video has loaded up, you can rename it if you wish in the box next to `Title`. When you are done, just lick `Start`. c) Once it's done transcoding, your video is ready for the iPod. The finished file will be located in the [bold]`Output Videos to:`[/bold] folder specified in the Setup section. Now all you have to do is open iTunes & import as normal.
Thank you SO much!! I actually have both programs, but I lost the directions on how to do it!!!! I do have another question now though. ) We tried to do this with Smallville, which each DVD has 4 episodes. It didn't work, and I'm wondering if I did something wrong (which is entirely possible) or if we just can't USE TV series type DVD's. Thanks again for all your help!!!!!!!
It should work fine, where did it go wrong do you have any idea? As long as you follow all of Lethal's instructions it should work just fine - but post back if you're still having trouble.
Indeed.. and please be a little more specific when explaining your problem, like -Whereabouts did it go wrong? -Did you get any error messages? -If you got error messages, please specify them.. That would help me to help you
I've used Videora several times, but it doesn't seem to work well with longer videos. I've gotten Pixar short cartoons to convert fine, but anything longer than 5-10 minutes and at some point the video stalls for a few seconds and when it starts up again the sound is gone. I can get the sound back by fast forwarding a few seconds, but that only fixes the problem temporarily. Usually with 30 seconds of the first time I have to fastforward to get the sound back the video will stall again, and again, and again. To say the least this is extremely frustrating. Patrick Norton on DL.TV said that if it is widescreen you need to use the 16:9 profile. I tried using that with an episode of FireFly last night and this morning my iPod wouldn't even start the video. Can someone help me prevent these stalls and lose of sound? In looking at the profiles a few questions that might help me resolve these issues has occured to me. #1 What is the best profile for using with video taken from a wide screen video after DVD Decrypter is done with it? #2 Is the iPod only capable of correctly playing video of a certain bitrate? In other words what is the highest bitrate that the iPod can fully support? #3 On the setup page there is a button for creating a new profile, but when I click it nothing happens. If I change the settings and give the profile a title nothing happens. How do I create a new profile. Ideally I would like to create videos with my iPod that don't stall, the sound works throughout, and the video and audio quality is as high as the iPod will support. How do I do this?
Well that doesn't sound like a problem with the conversion process [the video stalling] Try downgrading your firmware to 1.0, you can find it here: http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=7369 The answer to question #1 is really a case by case basis. Every video is going to be different. #2: [bold]Video formats supported:[/bold] H.264 video up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats #3 To make a profile go to Setup in Videora then the second tab [profiles] Name it and make the settings to your liking, and then in the bottom right hand corner click 'Apply' that should save your profile.
hey can anyone help me out, i used dvd decrypter and videora based EXACTLY on the directions listed in this thread, yet the finished product (when viewed both on ipod and comp) plays the director's comments or whatever. It doesnt play them when i watch the video after the dvd decrypter has converted, only after videora has...i looked all over but i cant find any sort of setting for this to go away. If anyone knows a quick fix for this or has experienced this problem before, please help me out, I appreciate it a ton. Thanks!
