After doing a net search about docking stations for the IPod Video, I am left with a bit of confusion. If I buy the Apple dock station, I understand that it comes with a audio lineout on the base as well as an SVideo jack. Is this a true line out, ie, is it a different impedance than simply hooking up RCA jacks to the headphone output? Also, I have a USB enabled stereo system. If I plug my PC into it, the stereo system becomes the default speakers and I can play music to it via the USB ports. Will my IPod permit itself to be viewed as a music source via the USB cable connection, and if so how? Would be much more convenient than having to use the headphone jack. Thank you.
The headphone outputs are only for audio. I have a docking station and if you want to tranfer sound to stereo you can use the headphone output, but if you want to transfer sound and video to a television, then you'll have to use the SVideo jack.
This is not correct. By using a triple mini jack to red/white/yellow RCA output, you can play to a TV just fine. Just note that for some reason, Apple has decided to make the video channel the red connector instead of yellow.
