ipod video headphone jack not fully working

    when i put headphones into the jack only the left side plays and when i life up the plug both play. is there a way to fix this? without buying a new jack, can i solder something?

    i have the same problem, only my left earphone will play. The right one wont. Except when i turn it up i still cant hear any music.

    I had the same problem, it was an easy fix. The ribbon cable that connects the headphone jack to the mainboard can come loose at the mainboard connection. It might not even appear loose, but might not be pressed in all the way (or in my case, one side was cock-eyed).

    Just press in on it gently where it the ribbon goes into the connector and it should fix it.

    The problem is not with the iPod, it's with the headphones.

    Something got knocked loose.

    Two options.
    1) Push the wires in harder
    2) Get new headphones <-- recommended.
