Hey, My 30Gb ipod video will not turn on, i just restored it and then turned the laptop off as it told me to. I then turned it back on but the iPod is only half on, it is showing the apple sign but it will still not turn on completely, meanwhile it is making this clicking sound and i cannot figure any of this out. please help...... Thanks!
when you say clicking sound from the click wheel or from inside of the ipod, if the sound is coming from inside of the ipod, means your hard drive is trying to write still,try reset the ipod by holding the center+menu until the ipod shuts off, then imediately release the menu, and press and hold, play+center button until you see a check on the ipod screen connected to the laptop, with itunes running and hit restore, and do not turn the laptop off until the ipod is restore and you can see it in itunes and all your songs are sync to it. however if you cant reset it, means you still hear the clicking coming from inside the ipod, means your hard drive died, is probably a good time to get a new ipod, you can get last year 80gb ipod for about $180.00 thats what cost to have yours repair anyway. well good luck.
Hey, i tried what you said to do. the clicking sound i figured out is the iPod contemplating turning on but it does not actually go on. My iPod is only about a year and a half old. would you advise that i maybe take it into the apple store to get it checked or just get it replaced? Thanks for your help...
well if you didn't get the extended warranty from apple, you're out of luck,take it in and explain to them what happend, maybe they are able to get it working, if they can't i'm affraid your better of getting another one, i mean you can now get last year 80gb model for about $180.00 usd from the apple site, it said refurbished but they are actually brand new, if you do deside to get another one get it from the apple site not the store, in the store they don't have access to the old stock. only the online store lol. by the way i dont work for apple, lol Good luck
