Have you charged it lately? If you're using your computer to charge your iPod make sure you have a powered USB port [preferable 2.0] If your iPod isn't responding at all then there isn't much you can do yourself. If your computer recognizes the iPod then you can try reinstalling the firmware, if that still doesn't do it try resetting it [I know you said you tried that already]and when the Apple logo appears try and force it into disc mode by pressing the center button and play. This should allow you reinstall the firmware and get your iPod back up in running shape.
That's mighty hard to do if the thing isn't responding, don't ya think jazo? And what did you take this to mean: If your computer recognizes the iPod then you can try [bold]reinstalling the firmware[/bold]
Sorry about that, I didn't notice that you posted this. And, he never said that his computer isn't responding to the iPod, just that the iPod won't turn on.
I just had this problem this morning. It wouldnt turn on at all, I tried reseting it a few times and it didnt work, so I left it plugged in for about 30 min. then while it was connected tried reseting, didnt work unplugged it and tried reseting, didnt work, plugged it back in tried reseting, still didnt work, continued doing this 5 or 6 times and it finally responded. works fine now! Just keep trying to rest it before you give up.
