    Hey everyone.

I'm so glad I found this forum it really is a mine of information.

I talked to UPC today and they told me I'm in a MMDS area (south east county galway) that supports their DVR. Does this mean I probably need a dvd-c box?

UPC are an amalgamation of chor*s and n*l. N*l mmds is box c, chor*s mmds is box t. So you have to find out who the original cable provider was.

you will need a dvb-c box the dvr will only run on this type of mmds. the old chorus mmds is not supported by the dvr as it is a terestrial based signal. eg dvb-t. t= terestrial c= cable.

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm sure I was in a c****s area a few years back but they must have upgraded their equipment.

I've still got their old aerial. Is there any chance I could just set this up again without subscribing?

I'm 40 miles from the Tonabrucky mast.

Could I sign up for the minimum term. Let them take their own box back and then use my own eurovox, downconverter and power supply without a subscription?
