I'm thinking of buying a computer purely for games instead of a 360 the computer will have a AMD athlon 2800 (or possibly 3000) 64-bit processor, ATi Powercolour Radeon 9550 256 mb, 512 mb of ddr-ram, Seagate 160gb SATA hdd and a 17" LCD moniter capable of an 8ms refresh rate.

Yes, 360 is better when it comes to gaming. A good graphics card cost even more than 360. If you buy that radeon, you won't get too far. It's way too old for new games. I could play half-life 2 with my computer (see my signature), but that was as far as it could go. Black and white 2, doom 3, quake 4... All of them unplayable.

    EDIT:

Oh yeah, have you heard that 360 launch in Australia has been delayed? Only three weeks though, the new date is 23rd of march. I feel bad for you, it sucks so much to wait for 360.

Yeah, the 360 is a great deal for its price. And the problem with computers is that all the accessorices are expensive. Go with a dedicated system like te 360 and you won't have to worry about computer nonesense when you are playing games. Much quicker and faster from the point that you don't have to install each game also.
