has your tv got a ci slot and "freeview"tuner as most new lcd tvs do. if so you could simply use a diablo cam. nice neat way as not another box under tv..

Please correct me if I am wrong.

But I don't think such a system would work with MMDS in Ireland.
Freeview and MMDS are not the same.

also older tvs that have a card slot will not work anymore they did work on mpeg 2 no longer ,moving up to mpeg 4 format so tuner useless.and they worked with cable coaxial.

Seems like a decent box to me, easy enough to setup, I am on the same setup, just every now and then it reboots itself, still haven't sussed what's making it happen though!

Prob signal level dropping, Also if using antenna with built in DC, PSU's with these can be dodgy and voltage can drop off enough to cause signal failure.

I don't think that signal level would cause these to reboot like they do.If they were to lose signal they just lose signal and obviously picture but not full reboot of box.

I know of many people with these boxes and they all report the same reboot issue.

I did notice that with firmware at 3200 and new keys entered manually that where before the box might reboot it now just froze for a couple of seconds and then catches up.

I believe the reboot is something to do with the firmware and not the hardware.
    Of coures just my opinion.

Never had the problem myself, but couple of people have told me that when using ariel with built in downconverter the box would just start running up through numbers, which is the boot sequence I think and after changing the downconverter PSU the problem disappeared.
Might be the fix for some, like you only opinion.
Firmware is now at version 3300.

Think I have ruled out the over heating being the cause, it did it the other day after being only switched on for 5mins, must load the new firmware soon and see if that helps, will report back then, cheers

Are you using normal chxxxs antenna and Psu or the one with built in converter?

re habcat.. u said my setup would not work. best setup there is mate..you wont get better picture quality and a neater way then my way,i am now setting it up to stream the picture back to my pc and can watch and record it using vlc media player aswell as on my pana 32" 100hz lcd which is best lcd around .. lcd`s are branded with a "freeview" tuner. this is just a dvb-t tuner..which works perfectly with a mmds system once you match the correct downconverter with the freq range of your tuner. my happens to be a uhf 1 so i start at 666mhz, hope this helps u
