Hi all, I have an old smart and friendly cd burner! I've been told that this burner won't burn a safedis 2.9 cd! so I decided to buy a new one! I bought LG GCE 8520B cd burner! is it a good one?! And will this make it possible backing up the sd 2.9 cd?!! thanx
According to Elby (CloneCD supported writers) you're good to go but I did read a post where 1 LG (Lucky Goldstar= Hitachi) had problems playing a backup writing RAO DAO mode in that LG drive. Just be sure you're using the latest firmware. http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_cd/writers/h.html#hitachi [bold] Look at EFM encoding= 2 sheep score^ Shoey
Get yerself a Plextor. For cd-r they are the king of burners. Had an 8x for 3 years before the wife bumped into the open tray one day and banjaxed it. Had to fork out for a 48x... which wasnt so bad... In hindsight I recently took it out of my machine and installed a pioneer 105 dvd burner... the plextor is back in its box until I eventually get round to building a machine for my daughter. Highest speed I ever used was 8x for cd-r and that was a backup of my hd. Always use a slow speed to prolong your disc life.
Sayeth whom? Plexy engineers? Plexy burners are excellent for audio but for backing pc protection= need emulation to backup Safedisc 2.x as the LG LG GCE 8520B [bold] needs no emulation [/bold] to play backups. Plexy want's [bold] too much money [/bold] for their burners! I use to own the Plexy 24x model but the drive can't backup Safedisc 2.x so I got rid of the drive. When Plexy engineers decide to fix the chipset (EFM encoding) then maybe I "might" consider purchasing a Plexy, "if the price is right".
