is it legal to borrow a backup copy of a cd

    is it legal to borrow a backup copy of a cd?

    that question lands right in the middle of what could be the music/legal worlds biggest grey area to date.

    you can pretty much be arrested for sneezing on a cd at the moment (more commonly known as the spontanious defacing of copyright material with a bodily fluid act 2004)

    aiding and abeting is still a crime - a lesser known petty crime of a non music fraud origin, but a crime non the less. If they can prosicute 12 year old children for downloading the tune "Happy Birthday" then just about anything is possible if you ask me.

    Totally depends in which country you live. In the UK: no. In Finland: yes. Other countries: not sure.

    Thanx for your input,
    It sounds like I would be taking quite a risk if i were to mail someone i don't personally know a dvd with 100+ of my own backed up cd's.(just to listen to of course,they would have to send my dvd back.)
