Is it my burner or Nero that is faulty?

    Hi there,

I've owned a Philips PBDV1640P DVD writer fo about 5 months and it has performed very well, untill recently that is...

I'm trying to burn some home movies to DVD using Nero 6 (in recode and Vision Express)and for some reason the burning process fails to initiate, instead it says it fails and the error log option appears.

I've tried three different discs for burning, Some cheap shops own brand, some Maxell DVD+R and recently some Verbatim DVD+R...all failed. Burnt them at different speeds, 1x, 2x etc...even Data discs won't burn.
However the drive will burn at 12x and above (plus audio discs) which I find strange, no good to me though as I need the slower speed for DVD movies.

I've read elsewhere that the drive itself could be at the end of it's short life, but wanted to check here first that it might be a problem with Nero.
I also tried to update the driver but this did not work, I've since reverted back to the original driver to try this particular burning test.

I've listed the log file below, so hopefully someone can help me out.

    Many thanks
    OFarrell.
