I am sorry if this sounds like a silly question, however I have never tried this before and I was wondering if it is possible to burn a portion of a soundtrack from a dvd to a cd.
If it is possible, what program do I use to accomplish this.
    Thank you.
BTW, I am still using version 6.6.0.18, OS is XPSP2, toshiba notebook m50-mx5.

This assumes that the DVD is not encrypted - use 'DVD Shrink' or just drag the 'VIDEO_TS' folder off the DVD onto the desktop
    .

If it is encrypted, you have to use the likes of 'DVDFAB HD Decrypter'.

Either way, the video files are on the hard drive.
Open 'VTS_01_0.IFO' with PGC Demux, select an output folder and 'Process'.

Load the .ac3 file (you may have more than one) into 'DaudioK' and output as .wav or mp3 file.

Since an audio cd is 80 minutes and the DVD audio track 120 minutes, you might want to save it as mp3.

If you want to select parts of the audio track, load the output from DaudioK into 'Audacity' and chop it up as and save as required.
    I prefer the stable version.
Burn the audio cd with the appropriate software (Nero?) or use in an mp3 player.

Wow....I did not realize that this was going to be this involved ! I only want a portion out of the dvd sound track and so I will have to read the Links in their entirety and skim read as I have done.
Just to insure that I use the correct app to do this. I don't think that it will be more than 10 minutes onto the cd from the dvd.
I appreciate the reply and now I will have to do some serious reading and try to understand how I am going to approach this in the easiest but correct manner.
    Thank you.

Are these suggestions the simplest way to get 10 minutes of audio off from a DVD soundtrack?
    Thank you.

Thx for the reply. What I am doing basically is taking some songs off a DVD for a Slide Show as I don't want to go out and buy a soundtrack of the movie simply to get the few songs.
I was hoping to get a program that might simply allow me to rip to MP3 without a lot of time consumation but this seems to be the only way?
I guess, b/c I am not computer savvy that it is b/c I am converting from DVD to CD? Then ultimately would like to save as an MP3 to be able to drag and drop into my Slide Show program.
I did ask in one of my other threads re another matter if 6.6.0.18 continues to be the best version out of the App 6?
or is there a better one..however likely not available. I have had no issues with this version I should say.

Yes,6.6.0.18 continues to be the best version out of the App 6?
And the new version of dvdfab 5 platinum is suposed to be able to take the sound only off a dvd. But it's not free. I have it but have not tried this new feature yet. You can download a trial version and see if you can do what you want.

    Attar:

The DVD-Audio to CD method you explain mentions nothing about watermarks embedded in the wav file.

My question is: Is there a software that will work if the wav file has an embedded watermark?

    Thanks,
    Niatross

    @Niatross

'Watermarked' audio is not something I have come across - sorry.

I have used the new 'rip audio only' function on dvdfab platinum. It was fairly easy to do. Dvdfab platinum has a 30 day trial before you have to buy.

I also was wondering how to do this and I do have dvdfab platinum so will give it a try.

Does it give you options on the bitrate?

You can find out anything you want to know about dvdfab at the form on cdfreaks http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/
You can even ask the two that auth0r the program.

It does give you an option on bitrate, from 64 to 320.

Under 'mobile' section, I clicked 'generic' and chose what I had wanted. Clicked next, and there was an option to adjust settings, that's where the 'audio option only' was. It was pretty straightforward from there.
