hi i im wanting to know if its possible to have my x64 on drive c where it is, but install a second operating system Xp pro on drive d: ?? the reason is cirtain games only play on xp pro, and i just bought a printer, drivers are not supported for 64 bit at this stage. i need x64 for my video and audio editing, but will switch at bootup for printing and cirtain games?

    Thanks

Hmmmmm ...... .......... I think you might be able. It is a good question. It would involve editing the boot.ini file. I would install the 32 bit xp on the first HD and the 64 bit on the second HD. Look at this

See in the boot.ini there is multi then disk 1 would be for the the first hard drive 2 would be for the second hard drive. Leave both multi and rdisk alone. I think multi is for a PCI IDE controller and rdisk is for SCSI. I will think about it some more.

well i tried it out, x64 was already on disk1 so i installes it on disk 2, when booting it gives me the option to boot x64 or xp pro x86 , 32 bit runs fine, but when i try booting up x64, cums up with reinstall ntoskrnl.exe, it reboots after that. so now im stuck.

Sounds like it can not find the partion with ntoskrnl.exe.
look in boot.ini , the lat part of the string is the partion, did you change the disk part so it looks to the correct disk
    here is some info
I might have had some of the info wrong look at this, it might help

    http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...0/server/reskit/en-us/prork/prbd_std_ccef.asp

also that can be turned off in xp where it reboots on error.
