one of the members said this was possible (larry). Can anyone provide the steps on how to do this? I want to know due to some wii's with eariler versions like 3.4 etc. That way I can still update to 4.1 and not 4.2 and do the softmod. Thanks.

I see someone asked the question for me. I am having the same dillema.
I want to upddate a 3.4U wii to 4.1u But as the 4.2 firmware is out it wil not do that.

My Question. How the hell Can i update to 4.1 is is possible to update through SD or make some kind of update disc/file

Just like the PSP.. for offline updating. For instance.

guys - why? larry clearly says his softmod guide is for o/s 4.1 and below - many users have installed the mod using his guide from o/s 3.4. you don't have to be at 4.1.

I just want to Update to 4.1 how dow I do that. Not to 4.2 but to 4.1 hence the Question.

The Guide Sir_Shagg doesn't explain where I can just UPDATE the system software.

I don't want to install the Homebrew channel. Just update the wii to firmware 4.1

    Any Suggestions.
Like Which original game has the 4.1u Firmware. That kind of stuff

Im guessing that the Wii Resort has 4.1 or maybe 4.0. You can try that one.

    Hi,

the 4.1 update had the motion plus within it - needed for the motion plus games.

It must be possible to manually update a wii - and if Drakoniss has a file that would update to 4.1 - super.

Exactly there are many features missing in previous firmware versions before 4.1. Like how about the SD card? The limit before 4.1 was 2GB I believe. Anyone find an answer?

im just saying its possible to go straight to 4.0 or 4.1 and people who go here should look harder to find such files instead of just asking people. Im not going to post links , but if you really want it you can always email me at mew2king100@gmail.com

Then go to another forum. We are here for help. I love this reply. Why post such a stupid reply and not post a link but you will post your email? It's a simple question.

I assume this is the situation:
    I have a virgin 3.4 Wii.
I would like to update to 4.1
I don't have homebrew installed as it is a virgin 3.4

Is there a way to update to 4.1 so that I can then follow a current (and easier than the old twilight hack) process to install homebrew and USB loader and stuff?

Just follow Larry's Handy-Dandy Mod Guide for systems with 4.1 and lower. (Perfect for you).

As Primes said. You need to install the softmod using my softmod guide in the sig. Then use Waninkoko updater to update to whatever firmware you want.

Those that have already softmoded and want to update to 4.1 or 4.2 firmware using Waninkoko updater should at least update the HBC and Bootmii first using the HackMii Installer v0.5 so you have latest updates of those.

I just tried this on a friends Wii (that way if it bricked it was his problem)

    Wii with a WiKey2 3.4 no foftmod.

    I did this:
    Installed bannerbom
    Installed homebrew
    all ok
    installed TBR
    all ok
    installed ios60 patched

    HOMEBREW CHANNEL UPSIDE DOWN

    ignored this for now.

upgraded to 4.1 with the Waninkoko 4.1 upgrade
    all ok
    installed usblaoder GX
    all ok
ALL works fine - except homebrew channel is upside down!

I not sure about Dup -ios fix - am reading up on that to fix homebrew.

I think if I had not installled the ios 60 patched All would have been sweeeeet.

    Hope this helps

As far as I know Homebrew Channel upside down is do to IOS61 being patched.

    @ Diverdow1,

Run Hackmii in HBC (boot.elf renamed to boot.dol). Uninstall HBC, and then reinstall. That should do it...
