I had my 360 modded about 2 months ago by my buddy and right before the last software update I pulled the plug on my internet so I am currently not banned from playing Live but I have decided that I do not want a modded console anymore. Is there any possible way to "un-mod" it and go back to the stock drive and just play retail so I don't get banned?

    Thanks

I believe you can just flash it with the stock firmware. I thought about doing that for if I decided I wanted to take my 360 online to get some DLC. I haven't gotten around to doing it and I don't know how reliable it is when it comes to avoiding the banhammer.

You also try buying a stock drive. Once again, don't know how reliable it is.

What make of DVD drive does your Xbox have? Up until recently the stock firmware for Liteon drives was simply not available. If you do have a Liteon then a search of the forum should dig up a thread on the Liteon stock firmware. If you nose around on the Net you should be able to find the firmware files in no time - I'd highly recommend verifying the MD5 checksums before using.

I believe (speaking under correction as I'm only a newbie) that other makes of drives are relatively easy to return to stock firmware.

Bear in mind that if your console is already flagged for a ban, that nothing short of personal absolution from Steve Ballmer will save it from the hammer when you next connect to Live :(
