Hi I want to burn a DVD which should have one set of contents for Windows platform and other set for Mac. I am wondering whether it is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated Geethanandh
Yes should be possible. Just make sure it has the windows file system and has the mac reconition file. I have done this with floppy disks. IS your mac running OS 10.2? If so then even easier as it is basically Unix and all you will really need is the Windows file system. OS 9 and below need a file that I can't rember the name of, but it is possible.

The best way is to burn files using a Windows computer, that will give you the correct file structure. A classical windows files system has no pauses in file names if nessesary use _ between words and all names should be less then 30 characters long. Also use windows folders to isolate other folders, making sure that the number of file folders used has less than 20 folder extensions (to be safe). I mean folders in folders, less than 20 is safe as the total number of characters should be less than 256 (I think but not sure on that one). An other odd feature is the total number of files in a folder has to be less than 108, that one is odd, but you will have much less problems if below that number. For OS 10.2 it runs a really good Unix system, much beter then OS 10 or 10.1 SO the only major consern is not to use #$% characters in names, becareful with file extensions and no spaces in the name of a file. WinXP will handle spaces in file names, so even I have been slopy. The other thing with windows is that each file needs an extension, or you should hide it in a folder if not important for windows. The best way to get all this is to burn with Roxio or Nero on a Windows computer, it will check to make sure ok for a windows system. What burning software do you have on you Mac? Have you just tried (with DVD-/+RW) adding files and seeing if playable on the Windows computer? I sugest the DVD-/+RW as not waste a disk. The Mac verison of Roxio 6 will let you address the DVD to play on any computer(Linux/Unix/Win/Sun/). That should work if you have it.
