I try not to turn my computer off at the moment as for the last few days it has taken me half an hour of switching the power on and off to get it going. No system beep, fans spin for split second then dead. Once it is running it never stops. Support where I bought the box from say to try reseating the RAM, card and possible processor. I haven't tried this yet because I don't want to turn it off! My question is they say it is unlikely to be a faulty PSU as it works sometimes. Does anyone disagree? I was thnking maybe it struggles with the start up surge. I have: 1 IDE HD 1 SATA HD 1 case fan 1 large CPU fan 1 DVD drive 1 Floppy drive 1 PCIexpress graphics card PSU is model PX 400 so I assume that is up to 400W? Cheers for any advice!
What company is your computer? It could be the PSU, maybe some cables came undone from the mobo, but I think it could be more of something else. When did this problem start to occur? Did you do anything to the computer before this started happening?
well i just got back in reseated the RAM and graphics card. It booted first time so fingers crossed. I did recently slot my wireless card back in the PCI slot since moving house. Perhaps I unsettled the graphics card then. I did have this problem occur just twice several months ago but it only happened twice and then I didn't worry about it. Then it happened yesterday and today, today it took a lot more tries to get it to boot. I built this copmuter from a barebones bundle so I'm always slightly prepared for hardware trouble. Hopefully it was just a matter of reseating the graphics card. I will post back if I have further problems. Thanks for your reply!
