Ok I need a bit of help here. I recently got a 360 with a hitachi lg drive, income tax ^_^, and I've been in the modding scene for quite some time. i have all the last old gen consoles modified along with my psp. I see the two main things to use when modding the 360 is the Blaster 360 and Xeno Top Gear. So this is my question, "Is it really worth modifiying using one of these devices to back up your own games but having to update everyweek because of MS?" I like playing on live with my friends cross country but I like being able to store my originals away just incase something happens.

Ok, here is the deal. Is it worth it. Well finatially yes. As you do not have to re-buy every game that gets scratched or stops working at $60 each.

But also know that it does not matter if you have the latest and greatest firmware out there right now, if you play back ups online then you run thhe risk of having your console banned. Nothing can save you from that.

I tell the same thing to all XBL addicts. The only safe way is to have one console modded (for offline back ups) andf one unmodded (for online with originals). I know this is an expensive thing to do but it is the ONLY 100% sure fire way to have the best of both worlds.

If you have been around the scene then you know MS and how they work. If you had an old Xbox they found more and more ways to detect all of the mods that people were doing to them like playing back ups, having mod chips, replacing the stock hard drive. Every one of those would get you banned. And the only way that was ever devised around it was either a mod chip with an off switch or a softmod that was dual boot so it could boot as retail. Meaning the only online play on XBL was still by using original discs. Back up discs had to be played on other systems like Xlink Kai or XBconnect.

Yes sir you are correct i have gone through half a dozen original xboxs that have been modded. but i usually just mod, play live, get banned, give it to someone that wants a modded box but no live.

And yes I 'had' one xbox to play live and one moddified. I guess I'm gonna have to do that and have one completely offline and one online to get the full effect. Thanks a lot steimy...just needed to know what was the best thing to do. ^_^

No problem. Darn MS and their anti-modding policies!!!
