I mean, will it affect the files on the cd? because i heard that when you're burning a cd, to be safe, you should not be doing anything on ur pc in order for the cd to have good quality. Should i also stop downloading (downloading of movie files) while burning a cd?

yes, anything that could cause a problem should be stopped. I even turn off My internet connection because I get pop ups about updates.

To be safe you should turn off anything that *could* cause problems. Personally though, myself, I do all kinds of crap while i'm burning cds/dvds. For example, use Firefox with a few tabs open, open up Maxthon to do something else, have Newsbin Pro running in the background, while having Azereus going, all while burning, and i've only ever had one bad burn. And that was because my 2 year old daughter decided to smash into my computer desk. That's just my personal experience with burning. Then again, I never burn faster then 4x.
