I have been trying to burn an audio disk and it keeps ejecting the drive door saying it needs a blank disk when one is already in there. I have tried burned disk's,blank disks and original disk and it wont recognize any of them. Is my drive shot or could I have a setting messed up or a software problem? Thank you for any help you can provide.

I just tried and it will read dvd's, backed up dvds and burn dvd's but no cd-r's.

Is ASPI installed and working properly or is it corrupt? Also are there any yellow "!"'s or "?"'s in Device Manager for your burner?

there are no "?" or "!" in my burners device manager.

Now to show you what a complete newbie I am, what is ASPI and where/how do I check if it's working or installed. Thank you for your help and patience with my ignorance.

Thank you for the speedy reply. My nero ASPI is installed and working properly. My "system ASPI" is not installed. What does this mean now?

ASPI is OK. Do you get any error codes in Device Manager for this drive? Is your firmware up to date?
