Hey guys, up until now I was backing up dvd's with a few coasters here and there. But now I cant back up any dvds, even ones i have successfully done before. I use DVDfab and Imgburn. I have Sony DVD+R and TDK DVD+R media.

I also JUST used a lens cleaner disc too.

Here's a log of A Nightmare Before Christmas (Successful before):

try using better media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim TDK is crap and burn at 6x to 8x max and check for a firmware update for you're drive. if you still have problems repalce the burner

Well ya, I read about TDK being crap so I bought some Sony's and they fail also (thats what the log is).

Not to knock Lite-on drives but my last two have developed difficulty in ejecting disks, this problem has started after 18 months or so. I have replaced the older one with an LG drive and it seems to be as good as the Lite-Ons in terms of burning quality, we will see about the longevity. By the way, the kids are still using my original DVD burner, a Sony DRU-510A drive from like 2003 or 2004.

I too developed problems with a Lite-on DH-20A4P after only a few hundred burns. It was always insanely noisy, but the burn quality went down the tubes. It was rumored to be a BenQ, hence I tried it. There are many drives that provide superior burning (especially for audio) and better build quality.
