I bought a ps3 last christmas. It's the 40gb europe model. It worked fine for the last 11 months freezing maybe once. But now starting about two weeks ago when I play online in gta iv it freezes completely and it's done that three times in a week. It happened last week in burnout (offline) too. I have a friend that has the same exact model bought last christmas too and he had to get it repaired because it wouldn't load the game and just freeze. Is mine headed that way? And how long is the warranty on a ps3 40gb?

Well, if it is the same batch of models with the same serial numbers, then this suggests that the problem you have is similar to your friends. Many defects have been known to occur in devices in specific batches, so if this problem continues then be cautious and consider some help. The warranty on devices is in general 1 year limited warranty. Sorry, it looks like you are going to have to pay for the repairs.

If you got it last Christmas I would get on the phone TODAY and call Sony so that they can exchange/repair or address the problem since the warranty period is for 1 year.

If you live in the UK, you can get it fixed for free so no need to rush.

If you live in the US, call up Sony because it's near Christmas and you're basically screwed if your warranty runs out.
