I have installed the Qoob Pro, I flashed 1.3a, the startup screen without a disc is the qoob screen indicating bios 1.3a. When I insert a backup the screen goes black and nothing seems to happen after that.

I have one backup game that seems to startup but after I confirm no memory card the scrren goes black and nothing appears to happen after that.

Must I use a memory card? Is the fact one game seems to load but the screen goes black an indication that the qoob is installed okay?

I have looked at tweaking the laser. The initial ohm reading was 168 and I tweaked it down to 150 with no change - backups make the screen go black but never have seen a running backup.

I am using fujifilm dvd-r's and wonder if they a just a POS for this appllication. I am ready to buy some different mini dvd's but would like confirmation that the qoob is installed correctly and the problem is the media.

I have tried alcohol and nero to burn the disc at the lowest speed and think I do this correctly because I have other backup game systems that work. the NGC is just being a little PITA. A little help please.

go into the QOOB bios main menu-configuration-GAME REGION(AUTO)
    QOOB REGION(AUTO), and try again.

try full size dvd-r first, they are more compatible.

From what I've read, results vary as far as DVD-R and DVD+R compatibility. Seems to depend on the bios as well as the GameCube's laser. Works for some, not for others.

Also, that region configuration is for the video force mode and has nothing to do with booting the game. I play PAL games on my NTSC GC all the time.

Thanks everyone, it was simply the media. All I use are Office Depot brand, and SONY brand works too, but the price is a bit high.
