    late november my box started freezing so i contacted my seller for the latest software, version4.
    it was fine for a week or so then it started playing up again. so i carried out a factory reset and tried scanning.
    problem is it wont find any channels now. i spoke to a friend who has a friend that sells starview boxes.
    he recommended more factory resets and more scanning.
    so i scanned loads more times picking up 78 tv channels and 2 radio channels. thats the best i can get.
    oddly i pick up all the S*Y movies and the sports and they work fine.
    i cant get any free channels. loads more channels are unwatchable due to freezing.
    i can get setanta but i cant watch it.
    when i scan loads of the TP's fail, only a few say ok.
    do you think its a box thing or a V/n** thing.
    i live in the east of glasgow.
    cheers

    Hi
    If you are picking up some channels the box must be ok so it sound like a signal strength problem, try doing a scan without a splitter in your line or with your box connected nearer to your wall/cable input supply (ie shorter cable run)

    Hi jb , sorry to butt in

    Press Menu > System Information and tell us what the API is please

    Also

    You will need to know if you have a clone or genuine

    Count the vents on top

    18x7 = Clone
    25x7 = Genuine
    13x7 = 1st Generation

    Also you can go here to see some pics

    Are you sure its not a clone cos 18 vents sounds likeit , Look at the b0x from the front and see if the scart connections are to the left or right

    Left = Clone
    Right = Genuine

    Also check the codes in nagravision

    to an extent youre correct. it was the first gen boxes that were cloned, so mines looks like a clone but theres other ways to tell, not just the vents.
    ive checked out other forums to be double sure.
    all the clones were going down in the summer due to the software, mines worked flawlessly untill november. im 99% sure its not a clone.

    Hail Hail

    one brand new cable fitted by ntl downstairs running legit samsung box.
    one cable split upstairs running bb and sv box.

    ive tried my sv box downstairs and the samsung box upstairs.
    i really dont think its a cabling or strength problem.
    i shold have said earlier but a cap has came off a small blue capactor inside the box.
    its been off since the summer and the box has worked fine untill november so im not sure if the problems are related
