i'm getting a used Xbox for my daughter as a xmas present. After doing some reading about the hardware/software modding, I am confused. 1st, how can I tell if the previous owner did any modding of this Xbox? Does it have to be opened up? what do I look for?
if its chipped you can tell if its been opened by the silver stickers being broken and if its softmodded more than likely as soon as it turns on it will go to a different than M$ dashboard
with softmod it is going to look the same eitherway it will show the blob then it will say Microsoft then it will either got to the default (M$) dash or a hacked/modded dash depending on being modded or not, if it is Chipped, then the opening screen from what i have heard can be different colors or even a different image period but it should say the name of the chip when its turned on. where Microsoft usually is my friends says Xecuter but i dont know much about mod chips im more of a software person myself
basically if the xbox ring of light is red,orange, or yellow that means its been modded...just check your MS if its normal then ok and if it boots saying unleashX or evoX its modded
