"It aint the size that matters, its how you use it."

But size never hurts, unless there is a girl on the other end =).

Hmm, where to start in all of this???

PS22man"MAYBE HALO FOR PS3 + CRAZY COMPUTING POWER + PLUS POSSIBLE FREE ONLINE PLAY AND I AM SOLD, SO HOW IS XBOX 360 BETTER?"
First, I really doubt that you will ever see Halo for PS3, considering that MS owns Bungie.

Second, The PS3 may have crazy computing power, but that doesn't make it more powerful. For one thing, the 360 GPU has the EDRAM that allows for the Anti Aliasing of HD resolution without taking processor time... If you really want to see what type of performance that takes, use a modern video card, run a game (life Half Life 2) at say 1900x1600 without AA, then turn it on... See how many FPS you lose to that...

Third, MS is also offering free online play but they are offering Live. You would have to be totally deluded to think that Sony's strategy of leaving the online to developers is a better solution. The problem being that developers introduce it differently and then need to add sometype of support to allow the matchmaking while Live has it all built in already.

Chrono1671 "being that i am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan and except for XI they have all been on a Sony platform originally and from the looks will be for a while." Actually, MS is getting FFXI and future FF titles as well...
    http://www.forbes.com/technology/personaltech/2005/05/16/cx_ah_0516xbox.html
Also, it has been strongly hinted that Square Enix will be releasing a new FF title on 360 shortly after lauch...
I will also note that Sony said the PS2 would be fully compatible with PS1 games. While most worked, there were more than enough PS1 games that didn't.

As for Blue Ray? Considering the fact that it doesn't look like Toshiba & Sony will settle on one standard.
    http://www.gamers.com/?run=news&news_id=4391

Now that means that Blue Ray may succeed or fail (anyone remember Beta tapes???) so Sony is just charging more $ for a feature that may become useless while MS has clearly stated that they will upgrade the DVD when a format has emerged.

Last but not least, take some time to study up on the ATI GPU for the 360. While on paper, it doesn't seem as powerful, it is new technology. It is more powerful and flexible than the RSX chip.

I have to go with PS3 because of the wide range of games and it is able to play videos without buying any extra Microsoft add ons that are not necessary.Xbox made people buy the dvd dongle to watch movies, this is a fact so what add on will people have to buy with Xbox360 to unlock a feature already built into the system.Microsoft are hard on gamers I think, the system is overated in my opinion. The few games they have will not make up the difference when it comes to PS3.PS3:Killzone2,MGS4,Devil May Cry,Grand Theft Auto,Madden 2006 etc...the list keeps going with great game titles that the XBox is lacking.PS3 will use Blu-Ray format along with all the other formats for Dvd.Sorry I just don't see Xbox360 overpowering the PS3,the power of the system doesn't always mean it will be the best 0_o.

Microsoft might get a couple FF titles in the future, but Sony will have them first.I agree with you on FFXI,didn't like it because it was online to be honest.I am more of an offline RPG player, can't really make a good RPG online.I don't know most of the stuff said can't really be proven right or wrong at the moment, will just have to wait and see.

LBurna: The 360 will play movies out of the box (and includes the remote control.

An interesting note that I had thought of regarding comparing power of the systems... When the PS3 was revealed, they said that it would have a slot to support a 2.5 HDD up to 160GB but did not actually say that it would HAVE a drive. Now, it can have all the processing power in the world, if it has to wait for data from an incredably slow source (Such as the DVD), then it's going to have a really fast processor that is sitting there doing nothing half the time because it's waiting for data.

Yeah your right it will probably play dvd movies now, because they lost money on the original xbox with the dongle for movies.I don't like Microsoft when it comes to game systems though,as you can tell. They will always try to figure out a way to exploit more money off the system. Not really sure about the PS3 with HDD storage, but if my memory is correct Xbox over powers Sony with HDD.The drive for the PS3 will be quick, where did you see or even hear that it would move slow man.Your being way to hard on PS3 to be honest, sure it will probably have flaws in the system.I am positive all the next gen consoles will have flaws in them. All the next gen consoles are not going to be perfect.I'm positive when they actually release the consoles you will see the ups and downs on every console.

I think the only issue is the price point and release times, 360 will be out a full year or almost before the PS3( at least stateside)and Halo 3 will drop around the same time as the PS3 launch. No one can argue that Halo 3 would not be a factor(6 million or so sold for 2) but the price of a launch PS3($400-$500) versus a 360 a year after launch(analysts say Msoft might drop it to maybe $250 at that time)might be bad for sony's sales. I will prob get both, as long as the PS3 is affordable(under $400). Does anyone know if the killzone 2 was prerendered or not, the video was awesome, but I have read conflicting information that it was not realtime, just a representation of gameplay.

Also I think Sony is just as bad as Microsoft, I mean $40 for multitap, $24 8 Meg memory cards, $35 ethernet(before the PS2 slim), when xbox had this for free, so it all balances out as far as greed. 2 hd outputs(is it hd only) sound awesome, but that is some expensive investment 2 buy a PS3 and 2 hdtv's. But the specs do look better for PS3 technology wise.

LBurna: Has nothing to do with HDD speeds. The fact is that the PS3 may not come with a HDD standard (hence saying is has a slot instead of a Drive, simular to the PS2). My point on performance is that IF it doesn't come standard, then developers would have no choice but to write games to access the DVD instead of caching stuff on the HDD, which would speed up data access quite a bit. Without a HDD standard, developers would have to make shorter levels and longer load times so that everything could be loaded into RAM (which would also cut down on RAM available for advanced graphics effects).
If I'm hard on Sony, it's because I bought into there hype about the PS2 and all the things it could do. Now they turn around, do the same thing and everyone buys into the hype again despite knowing they did this last time. Don't get me wrong, I'll pick up both systems but I just feel that Sony is using this as a tech showpiece and don't really care about gamers as long as they can show off the Cell & Blue Ray. MS will no doubt soak me for extra $ (Hence the Live Marketplace) but atleast they are trying to appeal to gamers and will give me some value for the extra $.

Yeah your right the PS3 will not come with an HDD standard probably, but the size of the disc they are using can make up for HDD.Think how big the disc are they are using, how big is it like 54Gigs am I right. That is alot of space to be honest, and might not even need an hdd.The drive speed really is undetermined bro, nobody really has a clue how fast it can process the discs.I don't know to be honest I will probably end up buying all the next gen consoles once again, just so I don't miss anything to be honest.I play the PS2 more than I do my Xbox, which is why I am going to get PS3 before XBox360.Everyone makes a good statement, and has their own opinions on what they like.I don't want to convince anyone to get something they don't want. This is how I look at it,if you like the PS2 alot then get the PS3.If you like the original Xbox then you will like the Xbox360.If you like Nintendo GameCube then you will like Nintendo Revolution. All the consoles will probably not change that much, and what they do change will not factor that much from what we already have.
