RiTek + and - discs have all proved ace for me, the only problem i have is from the stand alone players....they all have their favourites. Burning too fast and a low quality writer will always cause you problems in the end, if u want to produce quality backups simply use quality materials..... Ritek all the way for me )
I have been using RICOHJPN01 dvd media for months and never had any problems until now. I've recently bought Ricoh from two different brands (TDK and PLATINUM) and they are really bad! I never had such bad scans with any other media. From now on i will only use Taiyo Yuden (very good), MMC (very good) and CMC (good for me).
well, i've update the firmware in my burner (lite-on 1633s) and started burning at 2x. so far i've had 4 out of 5 successful burns. much better than the previous 10+ coasters i made in a row. i don't quite understand why burning ridata G04 4x discs at 4x made them into coasters as the previous shiny topped ritek G04 i've used, i burned all 100 at 4x without an issue. after this pack of ritek is gone, i'm switching to taiyo yuden 8x. kevin t
Hmmm... It appears that ritek is modifying there production process once again to save a few cents. The question that comes to mind is when is enough to much. A company that tends to cut corners to much only hurts it self in the long run.
LiquidG: Yes same here. The white-top printable blanks have burned less then perfect on my burner. And the playback of such burned media has been problematic in some cases. While, I was a supporter of Ritec G04 in the past. I can not claim so now.
Hi guys, I wish I had seen these posts before I had bought my latest batch of discs. I have previously read many times how wonderful the Ritek G04 disc are, I was using the Princo branded disc and believe me or not I had 1 bad burn in 100. I thought after reading the rave reviews that I should try the Ritek G04's, bad mistake, I have backed up 2 DVD movies and so far I have a 50% fail rate. The only way I could get a disc to work on any DVD player was to burn at 2x, the Princo brand always burn at 4x. Well the $40.00 for 50 discs will probably work out at $40.00 for 25. I must remember if it aint broke don't muck with it. I have identified the diskd in DVD Identifier and it states that they are Ritek G04. Any ideas, (firmware up to date, latest Nero 6.6.0.10) Thanks M
What are you doing spending $40 for a 50 pack? TY disks sell for 24.50 per 50 piece spindle at metirline.
riteck or ridata is stil top brand for me . i love the siver top media i never have any trouble with them .if you have the money for it , stick with it .......happy burning
Eagles69, Mate, it not the money it's the inconvenience of having to burn the movie over and over a gain and burn at 2x. I laugh when I see the new DVD burners come out and are capable of burning at 16x, what the sniff, if you could buy the discs, imagine the unrelability if the suckers. I shiver!! I digress, Ritek "never again". M
I'm curently having problems with datawrite 8x yellow discs with TTG02 dye my sony dvd writer hates these discs
Taiyo Yuden 8x +r disks are compatable at 16x with my nec3500. I've burned almost 50 so far at that speed, even burned a few PS2 games, and they have all played flawlessly. Now of course, they don't ever get up to 16x, since they finish in about 4 minutes they don't have the time to get much past 14x My point is, you can't really say you're using quality media unless you're using Taiyo Yuden brand.
i just ordered some ritek GO4..from meritline.com for 37.99 100 pack ..hope there ok .been using fujifilm with pretty good results but there made in taiwan. so i thought the ritek would be better media.what do you guys think?
I had bad luck with the G04's with the white matte finish tops. Those were Ridata. Now I use regular G04's (not Ridata) with the silver tops. They work great for me. I can burn anywhere from 1x to 4x.
been using ritek 04 & 05 discs (DVD-r), i have had a few coasters, but not many. Most of the problems have been burn errors, but halving the burn speed to what is quoted as the max burn speed of the discs and not using your Pc at all when burning files, solves the burn error problems.(All files are burned using Nero 6)
