Its a steady 100% at all times, even if I open Internet Explorer which I don't do usually it still stays at 100% all the time. Well im actually watching it now it makes the odd dip to 99% maybe once every 5 minutes or so.

Ok I just noticed that the CPU usage is between 10% and 60% when doing the menus, which in this case are just still images.

I am writing this as it goes through the process.

Analyzing took 8 minutes with that i'm very happy.

The box for running in low priority mode increased my encoding time by about 3 minutes. with the box checked it said it would take 1 hour and 54 minutes. Without it checked it said 1 hour and 51 minutes. And for this movie the Deep anylasis option was greyed out, maybe it was too small or something.

Sorry I messed up I can do it without deep analysis and that saved me maybe another 5 minutes which isnt worth it either.

What Shrink says to start is an estimate, as the program runs it wll update the time. You should check the clock to get actual times.

What is the rate Shrink shows when analyzing. Is this the analsis when you open the disc or backup.

Well thats good news because the more CPU time it gets the quicker the process can be completed.
I reckon your problem lies with transferring the data from the cpu to the hard drive. Maybe update drivers (including graphic) but id recommend checking cable config.
On my system i have dvd writer and dvd rom on one IDE cable and the harddrive on the other. If your setup is differant i think u should hook it up like mine just to narrow things down.
If that dont work im stumped mate !

My drives are all hooked up like yours, I took it apart and verified that just now.

All the rates and percentages I have given are for the anylisis when backing up, not when opening the DVD.

I am right now checking to see what the rate in shrink is when analysing. Ok I have done so and in the analysing stage when backing up it is around 4200 KB/s although it is up and down that seems to be an average. If important it also shows around 150 frames per second I will post after when I get to the encoding stage as to what it is at.

I am having the same problems that everyone else is having. I have dvd shrink and decrypter. and processing takes about a minute. Thats fine. But the shrink part of a full movie with out subtitles takes me like 2 hours, and the decrpt takes about an hour and a half - is there something to speed these things up, or different programs that are better than these two?

My encoding rate is about 1365 KB/s It does fluctuate slightly . Analyzing when I open the disk takes about 2 to 3 minutes, analyzing takes 45 minutes, and Encoding took 2 hours and 16 minutes.

The above times are for Troy which I just did tonight.

Your encode rate was low. What was the compression.
