I see many people have pioneer writers such as " Pioner A05". Are the Sony or Memorex writers just as good? Are they all the same?
Pioneers are favourites as they are robust and very reliable. I use cheap DVD media have experienced almost no problems. You will want an 8X Pioneer, if you decide to go with that option, the latest model as far as I'm aware is the Pioneer A07/ Pioneer 107. (A07 includes some extra software whereas the 107 is OEM).
pioneer is fiarly cheap compared to others... when i lacks in the price it makes up in the doing... it can write at any cheap brand and they will work... a07/107 is the way to go plus with a hacked firm it can burn on any 4x dvd-+r at 8x 7x 6x...
best price i've seen pioneer 107 around £70 sony dru 530 around £122 so work out which you think is best value
you should find A07XLA/A07XLB now thats a sweet burner.. costs lil bit more tho around 160-180 USD.... check the site http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_17221_72341396,00.html
If you haven't gotten the burner yet, maybe you should wait a bit, next month Plextor is coming out with PX-712A, a 12X dvd burner.
ok, i'll probably get pioneer A07, its $150 at frys. Anyway, how about cheap $70 unpopular brand DVD Writers. Are they workable or are they not worth getting?
