Is the white piece in the DVD drive important?

    it keeps popping off and screwing with the laser i cant get it to stay on i put a new laser in my liteon drive and it works but dont know if i need the white piece or not?If i do how do i get it to stay on?

    u talking about the white motor slider yes u need it,should be on with a tiny screw

    i know it is but the damn thing keeps messing up and not staying on even with the screw lol.

    Then I would have to assume that you screwed the screw back on to tightly and messed up thread it screws in to.

    have you tried loctite,maybe that would help the screw get a grip and hold tight
