I have copied a divx movie to a cd-r/dvd-r cd. I would like to know if there is any way for the dvd player to read the divx as if it were a dvd. Software maybe?
Well certainly software is avalable to convert from a divx movie into a DVD format so you can then burn it to DVD media and play it. But as for playing your divX movie CD directly on your DVD player, well that is only possible if you have a divx capable DVD player. If you're not sure whether or not your DVD player supports divx then chances are that it doesn't. At the moment only a few do so, though divx support is slowly becoming a more common feature in new players.
what uart said is true but looks like there are alot of dvd players that support divx according to videohelp.com 1124 DVD Players supports (d.divx. here is the link for the list of dvd players that support dvix. I have a koss (cant remebr model #) and a philips (i think it is the 642 or 624) dvd player and they both work great with divx. http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers...chipset=&orderby=Name&hits=200&Submit2=Search GooD Luck
Consider the Liteon machines. I got a DVD Recorder @ Costco for about $100US. I'm using it to convert my VHS collection to digital format. Not exactly sure how it does it, but it can record anywhere from 1 to 6 hours. It "offically" plays AVIs made with the DivX codec...but I find I can throw almost *any* AVI [XviD, etc] at it, and it will play it. Really like this machine. Now if we could only find a stand alone unit that also played WAV files we'd be all set.
Theres a DivX/Xvid/mpeg4 DVD Player @ svp.co.uk for £26:99 (really couldn't be any cheaper) [bold][/bold]
If you want, just buy a DivX player which plays DivX/Xvid and DVD's. That would be a better option imho..
Hi there, My new DVD Player supports DivX /Xvid but the problem is you can't seem to fast forward, and have all the features like watching a DVD, so I still convert all my Divx stuff to DVD with ConvertXtoDVD ! My personal choices
Umm.. I don't know why your DVD player doesn't do it. Mine is just a cheap $80 dollar one - You can get one from Strathfield if you live in Australia - OMNI DX-4300. The only downsides with a DIVX player is that you get no menu's and no chapters. FF'ding 32x is enough for me, so, it's my choice =) You can refer to one of the DivX/Xvid to DVD guides stickied... Good luck
