You cant literally make it a video ipod, but you can make it play videos. Try this: Ipodlinux.com read the forums and the wiki on there, i got videos playing on a nano and a photo, plus doom. If you still need help i can guide you through it. ps. Oh and Lethal_B, thanks for making me register on this forum just to prove you wrong. Whats the point of saying something like no, you can't when either you dont know, or youre to stupid to find out. Please just shut up next time.
frenchman; -Ok, what are the formats supported..Do you get [bold]sound[/bold] with the video? (rotfl) -if you could play videos properly on iPod photo, don't you think everyone would be doing that, rather than forking out $400 on a new iPod? -Installing iPodlinux can void your warranty.. Thanks for registering, just so I could rip you a new one ;-)
Please think a little. Its not because it says its not officially supported that its not possible. And you think im just making this up?? Oh and these ppl too: hxxp://www.putfile.com/totetolima/images --various pictures of linux running on different ipods, including photo) hxxp://ipodlinux.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4646 hxxp://archive6.libsyn.com/podcasts/shonapodcast/ipodvideo.mov -video playing on 4g) Id post pictures of the ones i booted linux on, but they werent my ipods so they arent with me Oh and we'll see who's right once juzzoo gets it running And about the warranty: i dont really care, i never used the waranty of anything i ever bought they always break after. No actually the just never break.
it's kind of strange how you couldn't answer any of my questions - does it play perfect colour video with audio in perfect sync with each other? if the answer is yes, then I apologize for being hasty, but for some reason, I believe the answer is no. ;-) quote from iPodlinux - Now that sounds like great video Well, unlike you, I care about recommending things that can ruin peoples iPods..
I was mainly focused on the :if it works wouldnt every one be doing it part. But yes the image is clear (you need to make the video an uncompressed avi which make for pretty big files but on a 20gig you barely notice) Oh and it does have sound, sometimes there are sync problems but by rebooting youre ipod and playing the file right when the ipod loads it plays fine. All in all well worth it, unless you have an other $400 to spend on a video ipod... Oh and did i mention with linux you can also play more games. including the original doom !!
Ok, well I still wouldn't risk it, not to void warranty. You are much better off getting an iPod video; @frenchman Fair play to you if it is possible. Maybe you could stick around, because if you scroll through the pages of this forum, you will see that I am pretty much helping single-handedly, so I'd be grateful of the assistance - and you seem to know a little of what you are doing peace out.
I think i might stick aroung. And when i first posted i thought you were just some dumb kid, but then i did look and saw that you are as they call an: afterdawn addict, and that i was actually a:newbie so i accept your peace offering. see ya around.
