Is there any deterent that can keep fans from buying the ps3?

nintendo fanboys r still mad at sony, and believe that should be nintendo selling 120mil units.

 

But we're not talking about Nintendo fanboys.
Why is the PRESS mad at SONY?
Did Sony do something to piss off the PRESS?

 

Exactly can we please stop covering up the sony woes with comparisons to other systems.I said nothing about the xbox 360 or nintendo wii but all im seeing is fans comparing ps3 to other systems.Your opinon that MS had the worst showing at e3 is just that because the fact is that they were voted to have the best showing.I have only seen a few logical replies to the actual question so please stay on topic.

if xbox 360 is a 1.5, the ps2 compared to the xbox must have been ps1.1, lol, you know its true.

and my answer to this actual comment, is not an answer but a question to any ps3 fan who can answer it.

ok if the xbox 360 is so crap and the ps3 si so great why?

- did ign give best of show to xbox 360 and 2nd placve to wii.
- did bioshock (xbox 360 exclusive)get best graphics for console, with mass effect (another xbox 360 exclusive) coming in 2nd place and finally assasins creed in 3rd (so why the hell am i going to pay an extra 200 bucks for worse graphics)
- did bioshock get best of show award with mass effect again in 2nd place and mario galaxy in 3rd, where is ps3 i ask.
- did nearly everyone at e3 say the same thing, xbox 360 had loads and loads of great games at the show but ps3 had barely nothing (do not say b/c the xbox 360 has been out a year, b/c normally you guys are always saying that ps3 games will own so you obviously have seen them.
- did ign say that the ps3 online is a complete replica of xbox live.
- gears of war win best multiplayer for ign and best action, and console for offical e3 awards, why did resistance win anything as good as that.

ok i got all my awards from ign,but i feel they are ver unbaised website, considering they went into e3 saying in their podcast that they expect ps3 to steal the show again but they actually went home disspointed wuith sony.

anywasy try and answer those points, they are all facts, and i am not trying to start anyhting here, but i really want to know that if the xbox 360 really is a 1.5 and the ps3 is the holy grail then why does everyone at e3 (who played the games, saw the games and spoke to the developers. not just fanboys on forums who assume something) say that ps3 is no better than the xbox 360.

 

My question still stands:

Why is the PRESS targeting Sony?
Can BAD PRESS keep fans from buying the PS3?

The simple answer is "no".

But not everyone who owns/owned a ps2 is a Fan of sony. I know a lot of people personally who don't really have a loyalty to one company or another, and the ps3 price itself was enough to make them seriously consider the 360 and/or a Wii.

well im not too sure that anyone can really answer your question there, especially when you do not link or provide proof for this so called bad press. so before i put my foot in my mouth....i'll leave it at that.

i'd take a stab at that one only if people were to own up and would ALL AGREE that SONY is the leader/dominator in the console market as of TODAY!! nobody really likes it when companys get too big (m$/AT&T). i will say this..that sony has recently and in the past said some.....lets say arrogant statements or comments. an example would be the comment made that the ps3 could still sell without any games available at launch.....basically the sony brand could carry it through the initial stage. now for me i dont get too worked up over it, but some people seem to be offended and feel maybe someone should shut them up.

like 'oofRome' said "no" let me say this...for every good thing or feature that i could prolly think about for the ps3, there is most likely someone out there that could atleast try to or if not totally debunk my statement/argument. example: if i said the ps3 is the only true hi def console....im sure somone would throw out the fact that sony original said 2 HDMI ports but now there is one. i made a thread about this whole idear before, about companys being caught up in "catch22 situation." i still think it holds true to today and in the future. by the way if your already a "FAN" of playstation then really im not sure there is too much any1 or any site can do to discourage people.

i will simply say this about that 'source' because my primary goal is not to belittle things, BUT i have never seen any respectable news outlet offer a section or link where you can "FLAME AUTHOR" im sorry but my opinion is that this site is geared towards entertainment/2nd hand information at best.

well basically, i am not saying that the xbox 360 is any better then the ps3, i am only asking why someone would say its an xbox 1.5, when clearly it wone e3 against ps3 that did (i think wii like you said was the over all winner) not do too well for obviouse reasons. and i want to give the ps3 fans a chance to tell me why ign, gametrailers and basically everybody else at e3 is somehow wrong.

 

they call it the l.5 because they are fanboys. Logic does not factor into their equation.
One thing i want to know is how big a blueray save file will be?
I mean a 60GB hard drive is huge for a console. Even a 20GB is huge simply for save games. ppl will claim that it is for downloads and other junk but to even fill 20 gb would take much time and money. (even though ps3 online is free i am willing to bet they will charge for big downloads.)
Personally after reviewing the disk facts i do not think that HD DVD's or blueray disk are needed until the following gen of consoles is released.
I use Elder Scrolls Oblivion as an example of why. Dvd's for the 360 could be layered up to and around 9gb. Although games are getting bigger the compression software is better than ever. Graphically oblivion is insane and the map and mission list is huge. It has taken me more time to finish it than any other game before it. How big is it? 4.2Gb. This means to maximise a 9gb dvd the game would have to be increased 214%. Anyone who has played oblivion will know how big that sounds.
I have no doubt that near the end of the 360's and Wii's life games will be nearing this 9gb mark however the compression software will bring them down again. If you argue that this increases load times then again you would be gravely mistaken. Many games with vast compression are adapting a halo style of loading. Load as you go, this is unnoticable.
So i must ask, what does the ps3 need with these huge disks? They dont need them at all. I can bet that no maker will make any games that demand a blueray disk. To do so would be a massive undertaking which would result in the biggest game in history that would literally take many many years to make! (by which time of course the ps3 has expired)
So think about that when you spout off about how great a blueray disk is. Because at the moment a regular dvd can hold grand theft auto SA and elderscrolls oblivion and well, they dont come much bigger than that!

Good poins in your post. Ive read one too many articles stating blu-ray/hd-dvd is not needed at the time when it comes to video games because the space is extraneous.I have yet to read or come across articles other than ones by sony stating that the space is NEEDED at the time. I mean good golly miss molly its going to tdrive the pirce of game sup just like it did with movies.Movies have already seen a increase of 100% in price and some fans for some reason dont think this will happen with games and that they will be able to sell them as cheap as the 360 does when using a standard dvd which is pretty illogical.

 

another thing that might derail the sony train is the fact that it is widely known and publicized that the cell is very hard to program for. hard means expensive and developers may shy away if they think they can cut their cost to bring a game to launch and make more of a profit, unless they really think that sony is so "god-like" but I have seen an interview with a programmer at ID software saying how cell is not as dev-friendly as say ps2, or xbox, or 360 have/are been/now to program for. You get developers that can't make decent games for your difficult to program system and then you start to lose out on exclusives later on. for example, I think of all the last gen consoles, Gamecube was the most difficult to program. Well they made RE4 for it exclusive but no one (not literally but very few) have gamecubes so they ported it to PS2 which everyone had since it was relatively easy to program for and they made some real $ off it. I can see this happening with claimed exclusive ps3 games that later get ported simply because they want to make some money on them in case they sold poorly on ps3 (not saying this will happen but it could).

If anyone knows if my GC statement was true or not chime in i just seem to recall it was a little more difficult mainly because of space constraints.

and if that is confusing, the intended correlation is that the console with the most games was likely easier to program.
Although it is possible that GC was destined not to succeed b/c everyone thinks sony is better than nintendo.

 

@pressed yea it is hard to develop 4 now but in 4 ears it will be the norm. its just that now people don't know how to make games 4 the cell processor.
