My burner in my computer is a DVD+R (RW) burner. Is there anyway to program it (or whatever) to burn DVD-R's? I got some -R's by mistake and the store won't take them back. TheElf310
Don't know the model number, it came installed in my HP Pavillion. It says "DVD+RW/CD+RW, Double layer 8X DVD+R/RW with CD writer capabilities. The puter is an HP Pavillion a720n that is 4 years old (almost). I know I am probably out of luck and the only thing these -R's are good for is frisbees. (grin) Hugs, TheElf310
are you sure it won't burn the DVD dash R media? have you tryed it? there is no such animal as CD+R its CD-R, give it a try the burn should work with the DVD dash Rs
My HP laptop's DVD/CD drive also will only burn DVD+Rs and I do not think there is any way to burn DVD-Rs.
@the Elf You didn't mention which you have desktop or lap top. But if it's desktop @4yrs old you could pick up a new far more advanced faster drive from newegg.com shipped for about $25. It will burn either variety.
Thanks to all who answered. Yes I am sure it won't burn the minus R's. It doesn't even recognise a disk is in the drive. Right now this desktop is still under warrenty (until November) so I am reluctant to add anything into it. I just had (about 3 months ago) the power supply go out on it and it didn't cost me anything to have it replaced. Thank heavens for Curcuit City extended warrenty. <VBG> But I will check out that site and bookmark it for later. I guess I will stick these dvd minus r's in my file cabinet and save them. Thanks for the help guys. It is much appreciated. Hugs, The Elf
WOW I checked out that newegg site and I sure thought that a new burner would be a lot more expensive. I can see one in my future after the middle of November. hehehe That site is great. Might even get more than the 200 gig hard drive I have now. hehehe Hugs, The Elf
