Um maby because xbox features online play and gamecube dosent have online. So maby thats why? Thats just a guess cause i never played a phantasy star game. But i think that you can only play it online because it says 'Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II' so online gives you a good idea. And the gamecube version might be different cause i dont think the name for a phantasy star game on the game cube would say 'Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II' cause it does not feature online.

Gamecube does have an online adapter. Check ebay or google it for more info. And the game on there is also Phantasy Star Online I and II also.

PSO on Xbox requires that you have an Xbox Live gamertag. There's an offline mode, but without a gamertag you can't play it. That is, unless you can find the patch for it. I never managed to find it, so when my gamertag got deleted I couldn't play PSO anymore.

The GameCube PSO does in fact support online play through the use of a broadband adapter. Also, the GC version is far more successful than the Xbox version.

The key difference between the GC and the Xbox versions is that the GC uses a serial number whereas the Xbox version uses an Xbox Live gamertag. This is to help prevent piracy, and made sense when PSO was released in Japan because it launched as a bundle with Xbox Live. However, in the US it was sold seperately.

If you want to play it without a gamertag, you'll need to find the patch that allows for it.

As I recall, these are the main differences.

-Xbox can save 12 characters per Gamertag to the harddrive, whereas the GC can have 4 per memory card with no character limit on the Hunter License.
-GC has a ton of downloadable and online quests and a strong online community, whereas the Xbox has very few quests and a weak online community.

Other than that, offline play is very similar.

I palyed PSO BB some so I want the offline content more ,pretty muh thought the GC would be better since the Xbox one was limited to the gametag thing whitch hurt it more in the long run.
now I can get PSO and paly ep1 and 2,even thos its is a crap spin off of PHS sicne I cant seem to find out if they released PHS genreations yet...it will be a nice PHS fix *L*

    What's PHS?

PSO is a crap spin off of...PHASNTY STAR.... you know the TURE RPG PSO was created from.

altho PSO is nice and a fun MMO however a few thigns bug me the aiming system needs to be tweaked and the randomness of the weapon/armor shops is annoiyng you should be able to put thigns on layaway or soemthign ><

PHASNTY STAR generations 1-4 is the remake of 1-4 they were saposed to relase it state side a eyar or 2 ago...

I fing hate sega.......altho if they are just holding off to release 1,2,4 at the same time in one collection insted of seaprate games then I might not hate them so much....

Sega jsut aint what they used to be..ggaa anyone paly that horrable Shining force in name only game?

How'd you manage to abbreviate Phantasy Star to PHS??

In any case, the targeting system works fine once you get used to it, and I almost never bought weapons and armor in the shop anyway. I think the only time I ever bought anything from the weapon shop was when they had charge mechguns for sale. It was always just easier to find everything. It's an easy game up until Ultimate. Keep in mind that I played PSO since it first came out on Dreamcast and I only stopped because I got banned from Xbox Live and my gamertag somehow got deleted.

And I didn't really like the original Phantasy Star games. Tried playing it on the Genesis and couldn't get used to it, so I just went back to playing PSO.

It was the battle system I didn't like. Had nothing to do with the graphics.

Hell, I still play Gunstar Heroes and Smash TV every once in a while.

yea there is a way to play pso ep 1&2 but u would have to have a modded xbox and then find the torrent for the pso 1&2 xbox game. i think they had hacked/modded the iso so that it would have a default gamertag that you could play offline. my best advice would be to go to a torrent searcher site like torrentz(.)com and search for it and it should come up but i doubt anyone is still seeding it.
