    2008 max v
    red blobs on board screws
    no top yang logo
    green cores are black
    ribbons are individual wires
6x24 slots tuner is visible for 8 slots (counting from back of box to front)

if this is a clone, do i use CryptStar-v1.4-Core257.bin and GT rom v4 to flash it?

Red blobs on board screws are usually indictive of a clone. The firmware you speak of is for a Starview Clone.

There is as of yet no clonesafe firmware for the Max V.

TBH I havent seen many Max V clones and I have heard of people flashing them, (those that seemed like clones), without any bother. But I will not take the responsibilty of telling you to flash your box, it dies, then you have to Jtag it sorry.

Some Max V clones are actually Red Clone Boxes with a Max V shell and the blue clonesafe works on them, (dependent on tuner driver). But again I have seen these myself and knew what was in front of me.

After Jtag with a 2008TSOP it will take the latest firmware, but again thats entirely up to you.

    ok thanks.
as a matter of interest... after jtag, would it take the normal latest firmware as if it was a genuine box?

Yes but you need to know what box you have as said a box may look like a Max V but it is not.
