Is this going to work? Hope so.

I am about to build a computer, with a bit a help from my boyfriend.
these are the components I plan on buying:
ASUS A8N-E Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD MOBO
    AMD Athlon 64X2 4400 CPU
    ATRIX ATX Case
    Maxtor DiamondMax 120G HD
    Maxtor DiamondMax 300G HD
    muskin eXtreme Performance memory 2G
XFX Geforce 6600gt 128MB video card
Of course there is a dvd rom, dvd burner, monitor, etc., but I'm more concerned with the MAIN part.
The case looks like it can hold seven hard drive, but I am going to start off with two and then add two more. Yes, I'm greedy, I want over a TB. Anyway, my problem is the hard drives themselves. I've added extra drives before using IDE, but I keep hearing about Raid, Paralell, SATA. Making my head hurt here. All I want is for one drive for the OS and any other program I use with it. The second hard drive for my dvds and the programs that I use with them. When I add more drives, they basically will be for storage. Long story short (too late), what would be the best way to connect these first two hard drives and then the others??????

    Hi,

That will work fine however i would recommend the 6800GT graohics card instead,
u have 3 options on that mobo 1st is IDE these run up to 133mb/s sata which runs at 150mb/s which is backward compatable with sata2 or Sata2 which runs at 300mb/s which is the fastest, but this would depend on the HDD as well because they all come with differnet connectors so u will have to be carefully when buying. However you can only run a maximum of 4 x sata /sata2 and up to 4 IDE which inculdes ur dvd drive/s as well.

Hope that all made sense lol

Why the 6800GT? I'm not a gamer, I only need a basic video card for photos I work on. My boyfriend suggested the 6600 GT, but grapics aren't really my forte.

u should be fine with the 6600GT, as long as this video card is PCI-E becasue u cant have an AGP on that mobo

Yeah, it is. So, is it possible to connect the two hard drives, dvd rom and dvd burner using IDE and then the two additional hard drives using sata?

Thanks for the help. I'm so stoked about this. My other two computers are from Dell and I could only upgrade but so much.
