I've got a slim v12 ps2, and I want to play backup games on it. I'm currently looking into the external USB hard drive option, so that I don't have to bother with soldering anything and I won't have burnt out laser problems. I'd like someone knowledgeable to tell me if I've got everything right before I spend any money.

Following these instructions, I'm planning to buy:

This hard drive. (Eagle Tech Consus ET-CS280MSU2-BKN 80GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache USB 2.0 External Hard Drive)
And this set of tools. (swap magic 3.6 and magic switch v4)

    Is everything good?

    Hi,

I was looking to the USB hard drive option too when I read that its performance is not good as PS2 only have USB 1.1 ports.

The transfer speed is too slow.

    regards,
